Schmidt's Class Facebook page

I decided to make a Facebook page for our class.  If you (the parent) would like to add our class, please do!  I feel like this would be something that families would be able to check easily and keep up-to-date on events going on in our room.  I also hope that it is something more user friendly for me to post pictures and updates for you to see at home!

Our Facebook name:  Schmidt's Class

Bucket Fillers!

Drew was named bucket filler last week.  This young man always has a huge smile on his face which can cheer anybody up.  He has been working very hard on his school work and has been a great listener.  Keep it up, Drew!

Trista was welcomed to our class a couple months ago!  We feel very fortunate to have such a great addition to our class. Trista is such a great listener and always includes others.  I am always told by other students that Trista has "filled their bucket"!  Way to go, Trista!

Reminder - NO SCHOOL Monday, January 21st

Labels Contest

Please start collecting your labels! The contest will begin Tuesday, January 22nd and end Friday, February 15th.  Please bring in the following labels: Pizza Ranch Wagons, Box Tops, Campbell's, Godfather's Fedoras, and Land O'Lakes.  Please check your emails for more information. :)

Thank you, PIE!

HUGE thank you to the PIE group for donating new recess equipment to the second grade classrooms! The kids were VERY excited with the surprise today!  THANK YOU!!

Health

We have been learning about the five food groups and have been discussing our favorite foods.  We also have been learning the importance of each food group.  Today we tried some fruits most of us have never had before - Star fruit and kumquats!

Trista enjoyed the new and interesting fruits. :)  All the kids loved the starfruit and said they would definitely eat it again.  I think Hallie would agree that the kumquats were a little on the sour side, however. :)

Bucket Filler!

Tyler was selected as bucket filler of the week and as a participant to turn Mr. Boeve into a human ice cream sundae!  Tyler has been showing Bucket Filler qualities by being a wonderful listener, helping friends, and being respectful to the students, other teachers, and myself.  I've really noticed Tyler's effort to be a good friend and student.  Way to go, Tyler! Keep it up!

 Polar Express Day

Maggie and I dressed in our pajamas with our moose!

Hallie and Rylie

Jake and Braden

Sam began reading the Polar Express to himself and more and more kids began to sit around him to listen to the story, again. :)

 Christmas Party

We had very brave parents willing to participate in the build-a-snowman competition!
Team Kueper snowman!

Team Kueper snow woman!

Team Cornwall snow woman!

Team Alger snow woman!

Students had to follow directions to draw a snowman on a paper plate without looking at what they were drawing!  We had some very interesting art work! :)

Letter from The White House

During election time, each student wrote a letter to the candidate of their choice explaining why they thought that person (Barack Obama or Mitt Romney) should be president.  Today, we received a response!! It is very exciting to receive mail from The White House!

FRIENDLY REMINDER:

Please make sure you are sending boots, snow pants, hats, and gloves to school with your child.  When there is snow on the ground, students are not allowed to be off the cement without snow pants and boots. :)
